Old Saremite is one of the oldest substantially attested Saremic languages, and the oldest attested representative of the Saremite branch, with early attestations from the foothills of the Hel to the sea in what are now ardenyī Joir and Sekaur. while it is no longer used as a vernacular language in urbeshtār Sarem (approximately, “the Kingdom of Sarem,” although the term “kingdom” is misleading), it continues to be used as a literary and scholarly language alongside modern Saremite.
this site will eventually host a full grammar and lexicon, as well as notes on Old Saremite literature, philosophy, history, and culture.
